In this visually arresting, deeply felt documentary portrait of post-War, pre-Liberation American queer life, a group of transgender women and crossdressing men find refuge and a sense of belonging at Casa Susanna, a bungalow hidden in the woods of Catskills. Narrated by the surviving members of the Casa Susanna community and their relatives, the film continues director Sébastien Lifshitz’s string of documentaries chronicling the lives of queer pioneers (Les Invisibles) and trans people (Bambi and Little Girl). Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at DOC NYC 2022.

Post-screening discussion TBA
